Why is “Kagawa Prefecture = Sanuki” an “olive”?
Around 1908, Kagawa Prefecture was commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce to set up an olive test garden, and around 1917 it was possible to harvest fruits. Shodoshima was the first in Japan to have an industrial olive origin. It became the ground.
Today, it boasts the highest production volume in Japan.
Our Sanuki is the smallest prefecture in Japan with a total area of 1,877 km² and a total population of 949,357.
In the “climate of the Setouchi Region”, there are many sunny days and little rainfall, and since ancient times we have made many ponds and used them for agriculture and daily life.
